The following photos show a Vera-Lux vault light plate that was part of
city expansion ca 1917. The plate is now in the collection of Rein
Catsburg, who saved it from an ignoble dumpster death in the late 1970s
during a basement renovation ("It was used in a so-called Souterain that
was not fit for daily living and mostly used as [a] study or small wine
cellar."). Photos are by Rein. Little is known about Emile Sanders,
but Rein reports that in his research, he found that Sanders worked with
Berlage on Plan Zuid.
Does anyone know more?
