SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 31,763, dated October 31, 1899.
Application filed September 8, 1897. Serial No. 650,987. Term of patent 14 years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOSEPH LOCKE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Baldwin township, in the countyof Allegheny and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a certain new and useful Design for Panes or Plates of Glass; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention has relation to designs for plates or panes of glass.
The leading features of my design consist of a rectangular body portion having a flat edge and a central part corresponding in outline to the outline of the plate and projecting above the surface of the edge of the plate on one side and within the surface of the flat edge of the plate on the other side, the said raised portion when viewed endwise or seen in transverse section being that of a section of a cylinder with closed ends.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is
a perspective view of a plate of glass made according to my design; Fig. 2, a transverse sectional view of the same.
The plate, as shown, consists of a flat plate having a rectangular outline and a narrow flat edge A, within which is a raised portion B, said portion B projecting above the flat portion A on one side of the plate and within the plane of the surface of the edge A on the other side of the same. The raised portion B, as clearly shown in the perspective view, Fig. 1, and the sectional view, Fig. 2, conforms in shape to a section cut lengthwise from a hollow cylinder with closed ends.
Having described my design, I claim—
The design for a pane or plate of glass substantially as shown and described.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
JOSEPH LOCKE.
