Vault lights and illuminated manhole and coalhole covers often lose their
lenses with age and end up filled with concrete or bars... though some
brave soldiers march on, as shown. All were located either by Diana Stuart
(of Designs Underfoot, which page noted as
"[DUpp]") or by Julia Bedriy ("[JB]"). Two unilluminated
covers are included because of their important makers (Brooklyn, Cornell).
