Healey's Patent "NOVALUX"
PERFECT FITTING IN REINFORCED CONCRETE
Healey's Patent "NOVALUX" The unit is supported at the points A, B, C, D, being trapezoidal in shape like the keystone of an arch.
GREATER RESISTANCE AGAINST BENDING & EXPANSION
Old pavement light strain Under the strain of longitudinal compression in grooved units the normal components move to the outside, causing risk of breakage (excessive overloading or appearance of expansion). In "Novalux" units the normal components move to the inside, i.e., towards the body of the unit.

BETTER USE OF THE WORKABLE HEIGHT OF THE UNIT—
INCREASED SECURITY
For the first time, thanks to the "Novalux" units, it is possible to place the upper and lower rods in the best manner, i.e., as near as possible to the surface of the framework, and this without risk of touching the glass. The whole workable height of the framework can thus be used, allowing heavier loading and larger capacity.
FACILITIES OF RENEWAL
BEFORE
Old pavement light renewal When a unit was accidentally broken many delicate and expensive operations were necessary to replace it:—
1. The cutting out of the joint of the total depth, thereby risking breaking near-by units.
TIME TAKEN
4 HOURS
2. The necessity of shuttering trouble and expense of scaffolding.
TO-DAY
New pavement light renewal To change a "Novalux" unit it is sufficient to:—
1. After having released the damaged unit by breaking it, chip out corner A of the concrete in the upper part only.
TIME TAKEN
15 MINUTES
2. Fit the new unit into opening thus made, first painting with white lead from point C to base to ensure waterproofing.
