SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 27,973, dated December 7, 1897.
Application filed November 1, 1897. Serial No. 657,107. Term of patent 14 years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HENRY F. BELCHER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented a certain new and original Design for Prism-Lights, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to designs for prism-lights.
Figure 1 is a plan view of a prism-light embodying my design. Fig. 2 is a cross-section therethrough.
A is the body of the prism-light; B, a design thereon placed upon the inclined surfaces C C of the prisms D D and arranged so as to give the appearance of a complete design.
When a prism-light of my design is examined, there is a continually-changing effect of the design due to the presence of the prisms
as a field and due to the changing in position of the person who is observing the light. There is a great variation, particularly with reference to such lines in the design as lie diagonally across the prisms.
The essential features of my design are found in a prism-light comprising a substantially flat relatively thin body having a series of prisms on one side and a design produced upon the inclined surfaces of such prisms and forming lines which appear to lie across the prisms.
    I claim--
A design for a prism-light, substantially as shown and described.
HENRY F. BELCHER.
