To all whom it may concern: Be it known that I, MICHAEL MAHONY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Troy, in the county of Rensselaer and State of New York, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Vault-Lights for Illuminating-Gratings; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part thereof, in which— Figure 1 is a bottom view of a lens embodying my design. Fig. 2 is a vertical cross-section of the same. The object of my invention is to provide a design for vault-lights for illuminating-gratings; and to this end said invention consists in the design for a glass or light substantially as herein set forth. The leading feature of my design consists of an overhanging plate and under it a pendent cylindrical projection, the bottom face of which has in the center a shallow spherically-curved cavity surrounded by a series of acute-edged concentric circular grooves of different diameters. |
The light consists of an overhanging plate A,
which is substantially cylindrical, but is slightly smaller around
its upper periphery. From said plate there is pendent a cylindrical
projection B of smaller diameter and of less thickness than the plate A.
In the bottom face of the projection B, centrally thereof, there is
a shallow spherically-curved cavity b, and around said cavity
a series of concentric circular grooves d of acute form, one
edge of each groove being substantially vertical and the other edge
having substantially the same bevel as the curved edge of the cavity
b. Having now fully described my invention, I claim— The design for a vault-light substantially as shown and described. In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
