1902: New York City: vault lights being installed (work by Tucker & Vinton) (1) This 1902 photo shows vault lights (with round lenses) being constructed by Tucker & Vinton. Presumably it's subway work since T&V won the bid for the "Entire Rapid Transit Tunnel, New York City, over 100,000 sq. ft." —Sweet's 1906.

Their signboard reads "TUCKER & VINTON INC / STEEL-CONCRETE / VAULT LIGHT CONSTRUCTION / 156 FIFTH AVE., NEW YORK".

The back is marked (in typewriting?) "Plate #1:- Camera on engine house platform looking N.W., showing vault light construction north side Borough Hall Station. Apr.25, 07--1288-43.", and (ink-stamped) "RAPID TRANSIT RAILROAD / COMMISSIONERS / JUN 10 1907 / ENGINEER FIFTH DIVISION".

This excellent image deserves a 600 DPI color scan (4.0 MB); back is 300 DPI.
