To all whom it may concern: Be it known that I, JACOB JACOBS, a citizen of the United States, residing at New York city, in the county of New York, and in the state of New York, have invented a certain new and useful Design for a Lens for Vault-Lights, &c.; and I hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, in which-- Figure 1 shows a perspective view of a lens or glass made in accordance with my design, and Fig. 2, a plan view of the same. Letters of like name and kind refer to like parts in each of the figures. The object of my invention has been to provide a new, useful, and original design for that part of a lens or glass for vault lights or illuminating tiles whose outer face is exposed in the finished light or tile, so that an ornamental and attractive appearance will be imparted to not only the lens or glass, but also to the tile or light in which it is used, and, to this end my invention consists in the design as hereinafter specified, and shown in the drawings. In the drawings, A designates the body or main part of the glass or lens, and A' the part |
thereof which has its outer face exposed, when the glass or lens is in
place in the usual supporting vault light or tile frame. Such part has its
side formed of a series of rounded projections a, set at certain
distances apart, so as to leave spaces a' between their bases.
When a lens, with its part A' so formed, is embedded in the usual holding
cement employed to fasten the lenses in a vault light or illuminating
tile frame, the edge of such part, haying the configuration shown and
described, has a very ornamental and attractive appearance, and makes
the light or tile, in which the lens is used, most neat and pleasing to
the eye. Having thus described my invention, what I claim is-- The design for a lens or glass for vault lights and illuminating tiles, substantially as herein shown and described. In testimony that I claim the foregoing I have hereunto set my hand this 20th day of February, A. D. 1893.
