The merger of L'ELECTRO-VERRE and the Insulator Department of the CHARBONNEAUX Glassworks at the beginning of 1959, in order to form the new SEDIVER Company, made it possible to inject fresh new impetus into this industry which was established in France before anywhere else in the world as early as 1904.

By rationalizing the production of the two old-established Manufacturers and automating the processes, made possible in part by the increase of the production runs, access was gained to new markets -- mostly abroad -- where SEDIVER now sell approximately half their total production.

SEDIVER toughened glass insulators, developed almost 25 years ago, are now exported to 65 different countries, thus placing SEDIVER in the front rank of world-wide Exporters of insulators for HV and EHV overhead transmission lines.

In addition to the constitution of a vast network of Agents whose action is coordinated by a solid Sales Organization, it was necessary to extend the range of existing products in order to satisfy the many International technical specifications. That was made possible by retaining and continually improving the same basic processes used in glass manufacture.

These improvements, made by SEDIVER's own Technical Departments, have been assisted by the permanent contacts maintained with its two sole shareholders: the Compagnie de SAINT-GOBAIN and the COMPAGNIE GENERALE D'ELECTRICITE.
