THESE Lights have been designed to meet
the want of a light which, while affording a good foothold, shall be more
ornamental in appearance than concrete face lights.
The spaces between the Lenses,
instead of being filled with concrete, are filled with blocks of soft metal,
such as brass, aluminium, zinc, &c., having perforated patterns; these
blocks are bedded in cement, with which the perforations are also filled,
thus forming a surface of cement and metal flush with the glass and giving
a good foothold.
The pattern may be raised and
the appearance of the Lights made more attractive by combining encaustic
tiles with the metal blocks.
Our illustration shows two
different patterns of these Lights with tiled bordered centres and white
metal perforated blocks, glazed with Hayward's Beaded Lenses.
