materials could be handled with greater ease and working costs could
be reduced.
As the end of the war approached, the ground was
prepared for a prompt return to peace-time production when that should
become possible. The signing of the Armistice, therefore, found the
company ready and waiting to continue progress.
There were the inevitable gaps in its ranks, and
as those who returned took up their tools again, hearts were too full
for more than a passing reference to those who did not return. But their
work went on-- perhaps the best way of commemorating them.
